For Candy

Halloween poster

I'm leaning towards a poster format for this event. It's a party at my place for Halloween. All the proceeds will go towards the AIGA GSU student group. It's not quite there yet, so any critiques would help.

The illustration is by Ross Hunt and it's totally awesome.

Possible new calendar idea?

Okay, so I have to say that I sorta loved my other idea about having a calendar that was a DIY (do it yourself, for those of you who aren't "in the know") project. The only thing was trying to figure out the logistics of actually building a calendar before the year started... Do you get all the directions at the beginning or do you build it as the months go by? So many questions... so little time. Anyways, at our little brainstorming session I was really inspired by Carrie's idea. Now, I want to copy what she's doing, but frankly I don't want her to hate me for the rest of my life. Instead, I came up with something totally different and unique, just like you.

I've been sort of interested in this wierd field of zoology named "cryptozoology." Basically it's about all these creatures that are either presumed to be alive, or maybe their a myth or tall-tale, but they've been spotted sometime by like, some 15 year old kids hopped up on drugs. Well the story gets out, the town is whipped up into a frenzy about this monster and the townsfolk get all wierded out and suddenly you have this mass sighting of some strange critter that is never to be seen again. Or that's just my interpretation of it... Anyways, let's get back on track. I think it would be neat to have a crytid calendar. Every month you'd be introduced to a new crytpid (think bigfoot, the jersey devil, the little mermaid).

My first thought would be this photo journey of a family of Helvetica traveling the world taking pictures with these monsters in the background. I mean, how true is that, how many bad fonts can you see in publication now? Am I right, or am I right? The fonts would be all cutesy but then you'd have these horrible monster fonts in the background. I can see it right now, so funny. Anywho... here's something I tried out to see if it would be doable.

Giant Problem

Maybe I'm overthinking the logo... I just can't figure out which direction to go in. Maybe I haven't explored it to the depth that I need to, but I'm having issues. What? Me have issues.... right. Okay, so this is kinda where I'm going with it all...
